RISK WARNING

Cryptoassetsare high risk.

This page is not a formality. Read it before you decide anything — including before you make an enquiry with us.

Cryptoassets are high risk. Their value can fall as well as rise and you could lose all of the money you put in. Cryptoassets are not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme and you are unlikely to have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service if something goes wrong. Take your time and consider whether you understand what you are buying.

What “high risk” means in practice

It is not a disclaimer to scroll past. Concretely, all of the following are ordinary outcomes in this market, not edge cases:

  • The value of what you buy can fall sharply, quickly, and without an obvious reason. It can keep falling.
  • You can lose everything you put in. Not a portion — the whole amount.
  • An asset can become difficult or impossible to sell at the moment you want to sell it.
  • A platform holding your assets can fail, freeze withdrawals, or be hacked. Assets held elsewhere are outside our control.
  • If you lose access to a wallet or its keys, the assets are generally gone. There is no reset link.

Protections that do not apply

Cryptoassets are largely unregulated in the UK, and the safety nets you may be used to from banking or investments are not behind them.

  • The Financial Services Compensation Scheme does not cover cryptoassets. If something goes wrong, there is no scheme that pays you back.
  • You are unlikely to have recourse to the Financial Ombudsman Service. A complaint you would normally escalate there may have nowhere to go.
  • Consumer protections that apply to regulated investments — including compensation for unsuitable advice — generally do not apply here.

We do not give advice

Nothing on this site, in our emails, in the chat or in a conversation with us is investment advice, a personal recommendation, or an offer to buy or sell any cryptoasset. We do not assess whether a cryptoasset is suitable for you, and we do not express a view on what any market will do.

We handle a conversion you have already decided you want. If you are unsure whether you should be doing it at all, speak to an independent, regulated financial adviser first — not to us.

Nobody should be rushing you

Pressure is the single most reliable warning sign in this market. Whether you deal with us or with anyone else:

  • A genuine firm will let you take the decision away and think about it. If a deadline is real, you will be told exactly why it exists.
  • Nobody legitimate will need remote access to your device, your recovery phrase, or your keys. Not ever, and not for any reason.
  • Guaranteed returns do not exist in this market. Anyone offering one is not telling you the truth.
  • Check any payment details directly with the person you are dealing with, using contact details you already had — not ones from the message asking you to pay.

If anything you receive that appears to come from us does not match this, stop and contact us before you act on it.

Tax is your responsibility

Converting cryptoassets can have tax consequences in the UK, including capital gains tax. We are not tax advisers and we do not calculate, report or pay tax on your behalf. Speak to an accountant about your own position. We will give you a written record of what was converted and when, which is what they will ask for.

What we are, and are not

Digipto is a conversion service. We are not an exchange, we do not manage holdings for anyone, and we do not offer a product you invest in. Each conversion is a discrete piece of work, quoted in writing before it happens.

Digipto is a trading name of [LEGAL ENTITY], registered in England and Wales, company number [NUMBER], registered office [ADDRESS]. Regulatory status: [TO BE CONFIRMED].

Reporting a concern

If you believe you have been targeted by a scam using our name, tell us at enquiries@digipto.io so we can warn others. If you have lost money to a scam, report it to Action Fraud and to your bank immediately — speed matters more than anything else at that point.

If you are unhappy with something we have done, our complaints procedure sets out how to raise it and what happens next.

Read it, then decide.

If you have decided and you want the conversion handled properly, tell us what you need. If you have not decided, take longer — we would rather you did.
